Kalaram TempleKalaram Temple is the popular temple of Shri Ram located in the Panchvati area of Nashik. It was built by Sardar Odhekar of the Peshwa sometimes back in the year 1782.

The Kalaram Temple has black stone idol of Lord ram, Sita and Laxman. In fact the whole temple is built in black stones with entrances in all the four directions. The summit of the Kalaram Mandir is made up of 32 tons of gold. History says that 23 lakh rupees and efforts of 2000 workers for 12 years went into the construction of the temple.

As per mythology when Sita was kidnapped by Ravana, Lord Ram became very depressed and turned black in color and hence the idols of the Kalaram Temple are made of black stone. The festivals of Ramnavami, Dussehra and Chaitra Padwa (Hindu new year day) are celebrated with much fanfare at the temple.
