Nashik
Nashik is known as one of the coolest city in Maharashtra. Situated in the northern Maharashtra , the city lies on the he western edge of the Deccan Plateau. It is closer to the capital city of the state i.e Mumbai which is just 200km away.This city has great historical ,mythological, cultural and religious importance. The main river that fows in the city is river Godavari. Other rivers that flows through the city are Girna, Darna, Mosam, Aram, Vaitarna, Manyad, Nasardi (Nandini) and Kadwa.
CLIMATE : Nashik’s climate is said to be most pleasing because this city is situated at 700m above the mean sea level.. With maximum temperature upto 42 degree celcius and minimum temperature in winter goes upto 5 degree celcius. Humidity is about 95%. The city is reported as a place that receives good amount of rainfall during monsoon.
HISTORICAL IMPORTANCE: The place has great mythological importance and is considered as one of the holiest place. It is believed that Lord Ram lived in Panchavathi with his wife Sita and brother Lakshman during their 14 years vanvas. During exile, Lord Rama had ordered Lakshman to cut(Nasika) the nose of Shurpanaka,the sister of the demon king Raavan when Ravana abducted Sita. This is how the city is believed to get its name Nashik from the epic Ramayana.
