![]() Ram Navami festival is enthusiastically celebrated on the ninth day of the Hindu month of Chaitra (Approx. in the month of March). The utsav begins with a prayer to the Sun early in the morning. At midday, Lord Ram is believed to be born and thus a special prayer is performed. The devotional songs, shlokas are recited and the images of him are rocked in a cradle to celebrate his birth. Thousands of devotees visit the temple throughout the day to take the darshan of their beloved Ram. People keep strict fast on this day and also take a holy dip in the nearby Godavari river. On 3rd day from Ram Navami a chariot processions of the Ram and Garuda Raths (chariots) is carried out from the Kalaram temple of Nashik. The procession route of the Ram rath is only around the temple. Whereas the Garuda rath is moved from the Kalaram temple – Ganesh Wadi – Across the sacred Godavari – Dahipool – RK – Panchvati – back to the Kalaram temple.
