Holy Kund On Banks Of Godavari

RamkundThe Ramkund is a sacred pond on the banks of the river Godavari in Nashik. Here the river Godavari takes a 90 degree bend. It is believed the Shri Ram took his bath daily at this place. Hence this place draws countless pilgrim every year. People feel that a dip in the Ramkund shall wash off all their sins.

The Ramkund that we see today was built by Chitrarao Khatarkar in 1696 to facilitate the devotees. The pilgrims also plunge the ashes of their loved ones in the Ramkund with a strong belief that it will help them attain salvation. The devotees also do the “Deep Daan” i.e leave small burning diyas in the river so that their wishes come true. Ramkund should not be missed if you are on a trip to Nashik.
